This is a sight Laura and I anxiously awaited. Jake is on a bike and loving the ride. By the end of his birthday party Sunday, we battled to get him off the bike. Just adjusting the seat from its low level, as seen in the photograph, to a proper height took time. Jake had to be right there with me watching every step of the seat adjustment on his new prized possession. Anyone that knows us realizes how happy we are to see him on his first bicycle we picked up at Capp’s Bike Shop. Once those training wheels come off, we know Jake will be off exploring the outside world he truly loves.
Jake turned three on May 1. We shared a joyful breakfast with Jake and his parents before we went to work. We then joined in the fun at his party on May 3 at Topeka’s wonderful Gage Park. One of our grandson’s greatest pleasures is riding the train around the park waving at people he sees. The party was held right next to the depot where all his friends got to ride with him.
We are truly blessed by Jake. He continues to amaze us with his intelligence and adventurous spirit. Jake made many huge strides in the past year. We pray his fourth year will be even more amazing. We can not wait to see Jake with his new brother, Luke, due in early June. The Phillips boys, what a treat.
We are so thankful for the efforts made by Julie and Tim to raise Jake in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior. We look forward to the fun times with our grandsons.
Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb a reward. Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are the children of one’s youth. Blessed is the man who fills his quiver with them! Psalms 127: 3-4.
